About the artist
Sandmann completed his studies in drawing and painting at the AR.CO school, in 2018, while studying at IADE University, which she finished in 2019. However, Sandmann had already started selling her first watercolors and coffee paintings in Baixa-Chiado (Lisbon). To reach the public, who were seeing her art for the first time, she made live portraits. Appreciating and selling art allowed her to discover the world. She traveled around Europe with her sketchbook and visited the greatest art museums.
Later, he decided to share his passion with children, organizing painting courses, reflecting and remembering his first steps.
In 2020/2021, he developed his work by choosing graphite markers with bright and bold colours to paint directly onto canvases, creating a fusion of self-portraits mixed with what he saw of the world around him. Last year, 2023, after a trip to Japan, a new set of colours invaded the blank canvas... "Full of sound and fury"... as the poet wrote. But this time everything had meaning and resulted in a major solo exhibition “Sound and Fury”, in 2024, first in Vila Franca at Galeria Pedro Jaime Vasconcelos (PJV. Art), then followed by a body painting performance at LAAF - LISBON ART AND ANTIQUES FAIR with a new approach to ultraviolet (UV).
Now in Cacilhas, in a new partnership between PJV.Art, SAL Concept Store and TLC Home we present the exhibition “SAND and SAL” from June 8th to June 22nd, their most recent works.
