About the artist:
Sônia Menna Barreto was born in São Paulo and in the 1980s began to attend the studio of the artist Luiz Portina. He got to know the artistic life, the movements, heard many stories told by Portinari and lived with great painters, writers and poets of the time. After contact with the works of Max Ernst, De Chirico, Magritte and Paul Delvaux, Sonia's work took the direction of Surrealism. His technique originates from the Flemish painters of the 15th century, mixing hyperrealism with the minutiae of the French Trompe L'oeil technique. His works are present in private collections in Brazil and other countries and in 2002, for the first time, a Brazilian work became part of the ROYAL COLLECTION, belonging to the British Royal Family, one of the most important art collections in the world.
